In response to the immediate needs of MomsRising/MamásConPoder campaign initiatives in the state of Pennsylvania, MomsRising is seeking to hire an experienced and energetic bilingual (Spanish-English) contractor. The goal of this Pennsylvania member engagement contractor is to reach and mobilize Latina moms and their families across the state to take grassroots action to advance MomsRising’s mission to build a family-centered nation where everyone can thrive.
About the MomsRising Organizations:
MomsRising Together is a 501(c)(4) virtual organization with staff working around the country. MomsRising Education Fund is its affiliated 501(c)(3) public charity. Our core team of paid staff and volunteers work collaboratively to develop our strategies and campaigns. As virtual organizations, we use conference calls, IM, and email extensively to communicate, to create, and to care for each other. Our team enjoys a results-oriented work environment where the challenges and joys of balancing work, family, and personal time are understood.
Essential Responsibilities:
Represent MamasConPoder / MomsRising in the community as needed. This includes attending events, gatherings, and meetings as needed.
Grow the reach of MamasConPoder/MomsRising in the community. This includes identifying potential partners, new members, and opportunities for member engagement.
Lead two on-the-ground events/month targeting parents, around a conversation or theme related to MomsRising's work. Events should engage at least ten parents/families, in an accessible, child-friendly, and fun way. This might include a play date, coffee chat, craft day, etc.
Identify and cultivate new members and storytellers for MomsRising's work. This includes inviting them to the events (above), as well as our broader state and national actions and opportunities. The contractor should identify at least 100 new contacts.
Identify new partners and spaces we should engage in. This includes building a list of local and online groups, leaders, and communities we should know. The contractor should identify at least 25 new contacts.
Qualifications:
Must be fully bilingual ( English and Spanish)
2-5 years of related organizing experience
Ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds, with a deep commitment to dismantling systems of oppression and white supremacy
Strong training and facilitation skills
Skill in working with teams and able to multitask in sometimes fast-moving environments
Strong oral, written communication, and interpersonal skills
Strong organization and time-management skills
Responsive, self-directed, entrepreneurial, independent worker who can look at the big picture while keeping track of details
Flexible and willing to do what it takes to make campaigns successful
Able to independently organize in-person and/or online campaigns from start to finish
Interest in MomsRising’s issue areas
Excited by and stays up to date with the latest grassroots engagement tactics
Familiarity with public voter files is desirable
Experience and facility with using tech-based engagement tools (Hustle, Mobilize, textphone banking platforms) desirable
Able to travel nationally regularly and make occasional overnight trips
Able to work outside regular office hours
Experience with social media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube) and blogs is desirable
Political campaign experience preferred
Physical requirements:
Must be able to work at a desk for blocks of time. Must be able to communicate verbally. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to move objects/operate keyboards, reach with hands and arms, speak and hear. Compensation:
$25/hour for 10-15 hrs per week from September to December 2024.
